Late in the afternoon, June 6, 1944, the boys were ashore and had formed a beachhead. To the right, 50 years later, the interior of the Airborne museum in Sainte Mere-Eglise, France.

We also salute the British 6th for their gallant efforts in securing the Orne River Bridge. This may very well have been the most successful airborne operation ever attempted. They landed by glider within 200 yards of the bridge, and secured it in less than an hour.
